1. Names that fit the table

A good tabletop character name carries the race’s sound, the class’s attitude, and the tone of your campaign in one memorable word. This generator combines 5e race and class conventions with a tone control, so you can roll a fitting identity instead of staring at a blank sheet.

2. Built for character sheets

Results favor names that are easy to pronounce at the table, easy to write on a sheet, and distinct from published characters. The short rationale ties each name back to your race and class, which makes it easier to adapt or re-roll until the name clicks.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

How do race and class affect the generated names?

Each race has its own naming conventions — elven names flow with soft vowels, dwarven names favor hard consonants, and dragonborn names carry sibilant sounds. The class adds the second layer, so a halfling rogue feels different from a halfling paladin.

Can I use these names in published campaigns or streams?

The names are original and generated fresh for you, so you can use them in home games, published adventures, and streams. Avoid names that match famous published characters; the generator already steers away from them.

What does the tone control change?

Tone shifts the flavor of the names: heroic names feel determined and bright, mysterious names feel layered, playful names feel light, and dark names feel heavy. Keep the tone in mind when naming villains and rivals.

How many names do I get per batch?

Each request returns six distinct names with a rationale and a best-for label. You can regenerate for a fresh set, and previously shown names are excluded so you never see the same list twice.
